Most of my life, I have enjoyed taking photographs.
The pleasure is mine, to record images of people I know and beautiful places I have visited. But also, it seems to be a useful adjunct to friendship, depending on how easily I find it to retrieve photographs taken at some strategic point in my now rather lengthy past.
So, a photographer for me is the person with a camera to hand, a reliable recordist, someone necessary, like an audience for a concert. To take an image that another finds memorable and even desirable is really the summit of my ambition.
