He married Alethea Cheese, daughter of Edmund Cheese and Mary Harris, on 2 August 1792 at Lyonshall; described in the Cheese family pedigree as of "Sheriffs" (Lyonshall) - marriage by licence; described as "Gentleman" in father-inl-law's will. Alethea Cheese described as "of Castle Weir" by Edith Welch. Thomas Jeffries Gent. was Thos. Jeffries Jr. acknowledged indebtedness to Thos. Jeffries Sr. of £345.2.6d, witnessed by Edmund Cheese Jeffries on 27 May 1824. He inherited £500 from his brother Edward on his death in 1834. He was farmer and breeder of Hereford cattle in 1839. He died on 27 November 1839 at Church House, Lyonshall, at age 80; late of The Church House, according to the inscription on his son Thomas' tomb (TJ Jr. died Nov. 1843). The original Church House was 12th Century, but it was rebuilt in 1803. He was buried on 2 December 1839 at Lyonshall; His tombstone carries this wording: "This stone bespeaking in its very lowliness the meek acquiescence to the will of God [and] the kind benevolence to man of him that lies beneath marks out for fond affection the grave of Thomas Jeffries of Church House in this parish who died 27th November 1839 in the 81st year of his age also of kindred spirits Alethea his beloved wife who died on 20th March 1849 in her 80th year."

Cotmore, Hereford bull bred at The Grove by Thomas Jeffries, calved in 1836 and Royal Show Champion at the first Royal Show (Oxford, 1839): he was acknowledged to be the greatest bull ever produced to that day. His weight at 9 years was 3,920 lbs. In 1940, a ship carrying a consignment of Herefords to America was torpedoed in the Atlantic. Two of them swam ashore to Ireland, showing the stamina of the breed.
     Thomas Jeffries (Jr.) was an eminent breeder of Hereford cattle: the white face that Herefords are known for today was developed by him. He was born on 19 December 1796 at Pembridge. He was the son of Thomas Jeffries Gent. and Alethea Cheese. Thomas Jeffries (Jr.) was baptized on 27 March 1797 at Pembridge. He lived after 27 March 1797; Church House, and Cotmore, both in Lyonshall. He married Jane Meredith, daughter of John Meredith and Mary James, on 24 September 1822 at Kington; by licence. Thomas Jeffries (Jr.) was Thos. Jeffries Jr. acknowledged indebtedness to Thos. Jeffries Sr. of £345.2.6d, witnessed by Edmund Cheese Jeffries on 27 May 1824. He was in the voters lists in 1835 at Cotmore, Pembridge. Heappeared in the 1841 census at The Grove Farm. He died on 16 November 1843 at The Grove Farm, Pembridge, at age 46. He was buried on 21 November 1843 at Lyonshall, Herefordshire; His tombstone carries this wording: "Thomas Jeffries, late of The Sheriffs, second son of Thomas Jeffries of The Church House, died 16th November 1843 aged 40 (sic) and Jane his widow, died 8th June 1878 aged 75 (sic)." His estate was probated on 13 December 1844; will proved by Jane Jeffries, widow - £3000.0.0.

Mary Anne Jeffries witnessed the marriage of Peter Davis and Jane Jeffries on 30 January 1845 at Parish Church, Pembridge; by licence; the officiating minister being The Rev. William Lee, the bride's uncle by marriage, and the witnesses mostly being relations of the bride - her father's sister Mary Anne; her brother EJJ, and her mother's brothers John & Henry, brother-in-law John Morgan, and nieces Anna Maria Mitchell and Mary Ann Morgan - plus two called William and Jane, surnames illegible. The licence (dated 20 Jan. 45) says the groom was 33 and the bride 19, both of Pembridge parish, the bride's mother (a widow) consenting to the match. Mary Anne Jeffries married Charles Britten on 6 March 1848 at Staunton-on-Arrow, Herefordshire; The Rev. William Lee officiated, and Edward John Jeffries was a witness, as were four others. The groom, a bachelor, was of Byton, Herefs; the bride was of Staunton-on-Arrow, so perhaps living with Wm. Lee, the widower of her aunt Ann. The licence was dated 26 Feb. 1848, signed by the groom in a flowing and cultivated hand. Her married name was Britten. Mary Anne Jeffries lived on 6 December 1866 at The Woodhouse, Byton. She appeared in the 1871 census at Lower House, Stapleton Court Farm, Presteigne, Herefordshire; (Head: "Mary Ann" Britten, a widow, farmer of 544 acres (employing 11 men and 4 boys) a widow b Lyonshall and aged 47, living there with son William 22, brother-in-law Peter Davis (Farmer) married aged 60, his daughter Gertrude 23, and two other visitors and four servants). She died on 8 June 1880 at Rosehill, Lyonshall, at age 56.

After the War, Francis and Hilda - who had a large family - came over on an ex-Servicemen's visit from Saskatchwen. MMD]. He married Hilda Alice Hefford on 11 November 1919 at St. Paul's Rc, Saskatoon. Francis Joseph Gateley died on 8 May 1970 at age 83. He was buried at Saskatoon.
