He was ordained in 1835 at Exeter; a Deacon. He married
Lucinda Buckingham, daughter of
The Rev. James Buckingham, on 16 June 1836 at Burrington, Devon; "Before his marriage, he met all three of his future wives on the same day," according to Great-nephew RL Davis. The Rev. Samuel Davis was ordained in 1837; a priest. He witnessed the probate of the estate of
Samuel Davis Sr. after 6 September 1837; Probate of their father's will was granted to Wm, Samuel (Junior) and Peter Davis. The Rev. Samuel Davis was "Chaplain" in 1841 at Bude, Cornwall. He was Curate of Burrington between 1847 and 1852 at Burrington, near Chulmleigh, Devon, England. He appeared in the household of
