     Charles Britten was born circa 1820. He married Mary Anne Jeffries, daughter of Thomas Jeffries (Jr.) and Jane Meredith, on 6 March 1848 at Staunton-on-Arrow, Herefordshire; The Rev. William Lee officiated, and Edward John Jeffries was a witness, as were four others. The groom, a bachelor, was of Byton, Herefs; the bride was of Staunton-on-Arrow, so perhaps living with Wm. Lee, the widower of her aunt Ann. The licence was dated 26 Feb. 1848, signed by the groom in a flowing and cultivated hand. Charles Britten died on 19 August 1866; Lyonshall church contains a tablet “In memory of Charles Britten of The Woodhouse in the parish of Byton who died... aged 46 years and of Mary Anne his widow who died at her residence Rosehill in this parish... aged 56 years.”. He was farmer.

John Cheese lived before 1826 at Castle Weir, Lyonshall; He bought the castle from the 3rd V. Weymouth, and built Castle Weir. He died on 19 January 1826. He Castle Weir, "An imposing stone house, built on a grand scale, but offering manageable and attractive accommodation. Set in about 30 acres of magnificent grounds, which include its own park, the property comprises three principal reception rooms, study, a number of domestic offices, 11 bedrooms, extensive cellars and a courtyard of period outbuildings including stabling and garages. Originally a Georgian house, the property was extensively remodelled and "gentrified" in the 19th C and again in the early part of the 20th C. On the North side of the house is a charming courtyard of original Georgian stone outbuildings which include the original coach house and stabling. Edmund Cheese married Mary Watkins, daughter of James Watkins Esq., on 21 June 1792 at Clifford, Herefordshire; pursuant to licence dated 18 June 1892; EC of Kington, Gent., age 21 and upwards, a bachelor; and MW of Clifford, aged 21 and upwards a spinster. Edmund Cheese lived in 1804 at Ridgebourne; which was, till this date, known as Old Kington House: John Milward of Hay or possibly Benjamin Wishlade transformed the house: the influence of Nash is evident in the double pediment and recessed centre. "Cheese appears to have jacked up the ground floor of the old centre block to increase the ceiling height, and encased the beams in the study in Georgian plasterwork. He added two fine rooms on the ground and first floor, and a good staircase and hall. He was also responsible for creating the landscape immediately around the house in a Reptonian style." The house was sold on 18/10/1837. He died on 12 January 1812. He was buried at Kington, Herefordshire.
