     Eliza Davis was born before 16 October 1813 at Burford, Shropshire; this being the date her mother died, no doubt in childbirth. She was the daughter of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds. Eliza Davis was christened on 24 October 1813 at Burford, Salop. Her married name was Trumper. She married William Trumper before 19 June 1837; Eliza is referred to by her married name in SD's will dated 19/6/1837 and codicil dated 8/8/1837. Eliza Trumper appeared in the household of Peter Davis in the 1841 census at The Lodge, Broncroft Farm, Diddlebury, Shropshire. As of between 1 April 1842 and 30 June 1842,her married name was Corser. Eliza Davis married John Corser, son of Richard Corser and Elizabeth (?), between 1 April 1842 and 30 June 1842 at Presteigne, Herefordshire. Eliza Davis appeared in the 1881 census at 18 Marina, Hastings, Sussex, England; Head: Eliza Corser, a widow, aged "67", which is correct assuming she was baptized straight after birth, with two daughters Annie, 36, and Caroline, 33, both born in Shipton and unmarried. She appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Upper Arley; living on own means (born Burford, aged 87). She died on 17 June 1901 at Arley Grange Upper Arley, Kidderminster, Worcestershire; aged 87. She was buried at Shipton.

     William Davis Sr. was born on 6 October 1805 at Nash, Burford, Shropshire. He was the son of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds. William Davis Sr. was christened on 13 October 1805 at Burford, Salop; IGI for his baptism says that father's name was "James", not Samuel!! He witnessed the probate of the estate of Samuel Davis Sr. after 6 September 1837; Probate of their father's will was granted to Wm, Samuel (Junior) and Peter Davis. William Davis Sr. married Martha Child, daughter of William Child Sr. and Beatrice Prince, before 1847; This must be the date, as their eldest child was evidently born legitimate. William Davis Sr. lived in 1851 at Dean Park, Burford, Shropshire; (spelled Davies). He was (an unknown value) in 1876 at a principal landowner in Kingsland parish. He appeared in the 1881 census at Stanbrook House, Burford, Shropshire; (Head: William Davis retired farmer 75, his wife Martha 61, their son William S. solicitor 34 and William's nieces Mary Corser 38 and Alice J Davis 23 - and 3 servants). He died on 16 July 1888 at Stanbrook, "late of Dean Park", at age 82; described in the grant of probate of his will as "a Gentleman", he died of bladder disease and exhaustion. He was buried at the Churchyard, Burford.

Peter Davis married Fanny Child, daughter of William Child Jr. and Eliza Turner, before 4 April 1881; as they are shown as married in the census return for Dean Park, Burford. Peter Davis appeared in the 1881 census at Dean Park, Burford, Shropshire; (Head: Peter Davis, 30, a farmer of 475 acres empg. 13 men, 4 boys, and his wife Fanny, 26, and 2 domestic servants). He was a farmer on 31 August 1888 at Dean Park, Burford, Salop, England. He was Executor on 31 August 1888 at of his father's will. He lived in 1891 at Dean Park, Burford, Salop.      Emma Worrall was born on 8 February 1823 at Clerkenwell, London; but should be after 25 Apr 1823, because a minor at marriage, and aged 33 according to prayer card following death. She was christened on 8 June 1823 at St. Andrew Holborn. She married Henry Hodgkiss on 13 March 1843 at St. Andrew Holborn, London; HH a brass founder, son of WH brassfounder. Emma Worrall lived on 13 March 1843 at 4 Richmond St., London. As of 13 March 1843,her married name was Hodgkiss. She appeared in the household of Henry Hodgkiss in the 1851 census at 11 Spring Street, Clerkenwell, London. Emma Worrall died on 25 April 1857 at Back 114, Latimer St South, Birmingham, at age 34; aged 32, wife of Henry Hodgkiss, brass dresser and gas fitter, of peritonitis (6 days), death informed by husband; but on prayer card said to be "aged 33", and in fact aged 34, if birth date is correct.

     William Reynolds was born circa 1746 at Burford, Shropshire. He married Martha Weaver, daughter of William Weaver and Rebecca Bird, on 19 June 1775 at Aston Botterell, Shropshire. William Reynolds witnessed the marriage of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds on 26 June 1804 at Nash Chapel, Burford, Salop; groom spelled Davies in the Register, by licence. Witnesses Wm. Reynolds, presumably the bride's father (but could be her brother), and WalterTolley. William Reynolds died on 6 August 1806 at Burford; No will for him found in Documents Online. He was buried on 16 August 1806 at Burford.

She went into teaching in 1898, being appointed Assistant Mistress at Bedford High School. She then moved on to Stepney Pupil Teachers' School in 1904 until 1908. From 1908 to 1912 she was Lecturer and Vice-Principal at Moorfields London County Council Training College. Then in 1914 she was appointed as a Research Assistant in the Department of History at University College London; in 1919 becoming Lecturer in the Sources of English History. In 1921 Davis moved to the University of London to become Reader in the History and Records of London; a post she held till 1940. She was Honorary Secretary to the Editorial Board of History from 1916 to 1922, and Editor from 1922 to 1934. She was also Honorary Librarian at the Institute of Historical Research from 1921 to 1923 and Acting Secretary from 1939 to 1940. She published some historical articles. She died in October 1943. She was born on 11 February 1875 at Grimley Village, Worcs.. She was the daughter of John Jeffries Davis and Catherine ("Kate") Freer. Eliza J. Davis appeared in the household of John Jeffries Davis in the 1881 census at Grimley, Holt, Worcs.. Eliza J. Davis was an historian after 1895 at London University. She died on 30 October 1943 at age 68; suffered from severe rheumatoid arthritis.

     Captain Henry J. ("Harry") Jeffries-Davis was born on 21 November 1879 at Grimley Village, Worcs; known as Harry, he joined HMS Worcester as a cadet in Jan. 1895, graduating first class in December 1896. He and his wife Gladys had two sons, Philip and Jack. Philip died from meningitis as a boy and Jack was disowned by his father for reasons unknown. "We have completely lost contact with this branch of the family", wrote Bruce Coates. He was the son of John Jeffries Davis and Catherine ("Kate") Freer. Captain Henry J. ("Harry") Jeffries-Davis appeared in the household of John Jeffries Davis in the 1881 census at Grimley, Holt, Worcs.. Captain Henry J. ("Harry") Jeffries-Davis married Gladys Hooper circa 1899. Captain Henry J. ("Harry") Jeffries-Davis was a Captain in the Merchant Navy, "my ideal of shipmasters", according to Capt. Leslie F. Banyard. A lady said of his voice, "It's like an organ with a bit of a lisp and it has an effect on women like a blow-torch." Between 1913 and 1939. He was Assistant (later General) Marine Superintendant for Furness Lines in New York between 1939 and 1947. He was living in Bermuda following his retirement in 1947. He died on 24 January 1963 at New York at age 83.

He married Elizabeth Cranstoun in 1891; twenty years after they had become engaged. William ("Will") Samuel Davis appeared on the census of 31 March 1901 at Stanbrook House, Burford; (Head, William S. Davis, a solicitor aged 53, with his wife Elizabeth, 50, and his brother Edward P Davis, 49, an ironmaster/employer, together with a cook and a housemaid). He was Executor on 5 February 1903 at acted as executor of his mother's will. He was a solicitor on 12 May 1927. He left a will; made on 12th May 1927 at Burford.      Fanny Child "an exceedingly difficult woman." She was born in 1855 at Leintwardine, Hereford. She was the daughter of William Child Jr. and Eliza Turner. Fanny Child married Peter Davis, son of William Davis Sr. and Martha Child, before 4 April 1881; as they are shown as married in the census return for Dean Park, Burford. As of before 4 April 1881,her married name was Davis. Fanny Davis appeared in the household of Peter Davis in the 1881 census at Dean Park, Burford, Shropshire. Fanny Child died on 4 August 1941; "aged 84" (!) according to the stone in Burford Churchyard marking her husband's grave: she was, it is there said, buried in Hove.

     Carolina Davis was born circa 1807. She was christened on 9 June 1807 at Burford, Salop. She was the daughter of Samuel Davis Sr. and Elizabeth Reynolds. Carolina Davis died on 4 April 1815 at Burford at age 7; "Caroline the daughter died April 4th 1815 aged 8 years", according to her parents' gravestone, which was not erected till 1837, hence perhaps the error in her age.

Martha Weaver married William Reynolds on 19 June 1775 at Aston Botterell, Shropshire. As of 19 June 1775,her married name was Reynolds. Martha Weaver died in 1793. She was buried on 27 October 1793 at Burford; but Documents Online reveals no will.
